Velvet

This skirt was another of my great vintage finds. I got it on a trip to Melbourne so long ago and I have worn it more times than I can count. I love the colour and the texture - it's just enough to make a statement.

Happy leap year! (is that a saying? Oh well if it's not i'm saying it anyway). Today my outfit was inspired by the clean lines of the Victoria by Victoria Beckham SS 12 collection. 

I actually bought this dress last winter before the Victoria collection came out, but  the detail at the bottom bares resemblance to the dresses shown (think the black and pink sleeveless shift VB wore post Harper).

Today my outfit was inspired by the pencil skirts that have been shown on the runways with cropped tops and bustiers (think Preen, Nina Ricci, Prada and my favourite Proenza Schouler). However since I was wearing this to work mine was a more 'corporate' take on the trend, using black and white. 

The little cropped blouse was probably one of my best vintage finds. I purchased it when I was about 17 for $4 and I have worn it so many times and in so many different ways. It's one of my favourite pieces in my wardrobe.

Prints

Now I'm not usually a big fan of prints, I definitely tend follow the 'less is more' route. But seeing all the clashing prints in the collections so far inspired me to dig out some old pieces from my wardrobe. I'm not quite ready to start wearing head to toe prints but one item mixed with my failsafe black seemed like the perfect way to ease myself into the trend.

Last night I went out in Sydney's version of Little Italy; Leichhardt. I have never been to Italy, but when I go into the Italian Forum I imagine this is what the squares must be like over there. Such a great atmosphere there on a Saturday night, and the food (and gelati) were out of this world!

Tonight I made myself a healthy dinner that took little to no time to cook; brown rice, chickpeas, sesame seeds, vegetables and a bit of teriyaki sauce. Amazing!

 I bought this kimono last year, it reminded me of the silk dressing gown that Renee Zellweger wears in the scene where she shoots her husband in Chicago (one of my favourite movies). I love the 1920s, the clothes, the charleston, the music - Chicago captures it all perfectly!

My Mac :)

after spending about an hour in the store (much to my boyfriend's dismay) I finally decided on the Mac Book Pro. I don't exactly know how to use it but I'm definitely having fun working it out!

I spent today in Coogee, one of Sydney's eastern beaches. I've lived in Sydney my entire life and had never been down. I can definitely say i've been missing out; from lunch at the Coogee Bay Hotel to swimming in the bright blue water, the day was perfect.

I started my weekend with breakfast at my favourite local cafe, Agean Blue. The food is amazing, the staff are great and the courtyard is so pretty!

I was going to take photos of the food but I ate it so fast I didn't get a chance :)

Then went shopping for a new laptop but came out with a new dress to wear tonight (I'm celebrating my promotion). I usually wouldn't wear orange but I couldnt resist!

Will hopefully get more photos of it tonight!

Promotion!

Today at work I got a promotion, my first since starting

When I got my job (my first after finishing uni) I bought myself this YSL ring to celebrate

I found it meant so much more to me because it was the first big thing I bought for myself when I started working full time. So I decided to do something similar for my promotion.

I am thinking a new laptop (I am a bit over using the big home computer), but I will keep you posted!

I rarely buy high necked dresses but the combination of the draping and the contrasting fabrics swayed me!

Today after work we had drinks at a little bar/pub in the city. The place; The Slip Inn has a great little European style beer garden so I thought I would dress for the occasion

I love this skirt, it was such a great find! It's from a little chain store here in Aus called Valley Girl. I love the colour of it and it's ladylike length - perfect mix of colour blocking and feminine styling. I paired it with a tank from Sportsgirl and my Bally pumps 

The drinks were really fun, the weather was amazing (which at the moment is rare) and the company great. All in all a perfect way to end a Thursday!

Pretty easy day at work today, spent half the afternoon out of the office at a conference. I'm lucky working in media that I have next to no dress code so I am able to pretty much wear what I like. This has both it's advantages (not having to buy one set of clothes for work and one for play) and disadvantages (thinking about what I have to wear everyday).

Today I chose this black lace dress from Sportsgirl and a pair of Jeffery Campbell wedges; I like how the wedges make the dress look a little more edgier.

Back from my weekend away, such an amazing getaway! As I said Melbourne is one of my favourite places to spend a long weekend and it didn't disapoint. Shopping on Chapel St, cruising the Yarra, the St Kilda Festival, exploring Southbank and eating in the little lanes and wine bars. Perfect weekend!
